Welcome to our build2sustain blog. B2S is a new venture built on the belief that one of the barriers to large scale acceptance of green building is lack of best practices. Clients and ordinary consumers don’t really understand what going green means and what the short and long term benefits are. Most of the green movement will be in retrofit projects, yet the public only sees examples like the NY Times building-a brand new construction. We hear about myriad “green” products and alternative energy sources yet have no way to channel all this collective knowledge into a final product. It’s a little bit like teaching people all about the best car parts, but never showing them a Porsche.
And so I want to build the Porsche or the next best thing. I am starting an outreach to some of the thought leaders in the green build space to begin a renovation project dedicated to finding a small-medium size office space in a very common area. Working with the client and renovating it in the greenest way possible. Ala the 100khouse, I want to attempt to document this process in as transparent a way as possible and open it up to comment, opinion, and scrutiny.
